Used the Nasalferon to face the COVID-19 in Villa Clara

Villa Clara confirmed the application of the Nasalferon as part of the drugs included in the treatment protocols to face the tense health situation caused by the COVID-19.

It is aimed for the contacts of SARS-CoV-2-positive patients and their cohabitants who remained isolated in their own home in order to avoid the transmission, to strengthen their immune system, and to ensure that if the person becomes ill, a severe clinical presentation is avoided.

The drug does not constitute a vaccine, it was developed by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of Cuba (CIGB) and it establishes its administration by means of one drop per nostril, a frequency of twice a day, for 10 days. The vials guarantee the treatment during that time, and if the contents are finished in about eight days, no additional doses are required.

In the consultations for the evaluation of Acute Respiratory Infections, enabled at all the Health units, the drug will be delivered to those who require it, together with the explanations in this regard.

The children over the 12 years of age who are suspected of having the disease or who are positive to the virus, without any risk factors or any associated comorbidities, will also receive their treatment at home. In these cases, only one drop will be administered per nostril once a day.

It was clarified that the container must be kept refrigerated, so it is essential to assess whether the people have the optimal conditions in their home to assume the home admission, otherwise they must attend an isolation center. If you have any type of allergy, you can consult a specialist before applying the Nasalferon.
