Villa Clara's Leonys Martín and Dayán Viciedo shine in Japan

Villa Clara's players, Leonys Martín and Dayán Viciedo, shine with their own light these days in the Japanese Baseball League (NPB), although, given their proven quality, they are expected to continue doing so in the rest of the 2020 season.

Not counting this Saturday, Viciedo, who plays for the Chunichi Dragons, is already hitting for 323 with eight home runs, co-leader in this department, and 23 RBIs, also among the Central League leaders of the second strongest ball in the world.

For his part, Leonys Martín, who does it for the Lotte Marines, has raised his average to 280, after being at just 230 until very recently. In fact, Leonys has hits in six games in a row, he has five homers with 17 RBI.

To top off their good job, they both have an OPS (the sum of the on-base average and the slugging average) above 900, a truly spectacular number n any circuit.

Let's hope, then, that they continue like this and help their teams to get ahead. And much more in the case of the remediate Viciedo, since the Dragons are last in their league with a record of 10-14, five and a half games ahead, held by the Yomiuri Giants with 14-7.

In Leonys' case, the Marines are much better positioned in the Pacific League with their record of 13-11, two stripes from the leader Aguilas de Rakuten who are 15-9.
