Miguel Diaz-Canel presides over central ceremony for anniversary of “Words to the Intellectuals”

The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, led the central ceremony for the 60th anniversary of “Words to the Intellectuals”, a memorable speech given by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, delivered after several days of exchange with the Cuban artistic avant-garde.

As was published by the Cuban Ministry of Culture on its official Facebook profile, the Cuban Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, the Minister of Culture, Alpidio Alonso, among other important leaders and personalities of the country, were also present at the commemoration.

Miguel Barnet, Honorary President of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, also a participant at that event, recalled this Monday the words of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution.

The event took place at the Jose Marti National Library, the scene of the historic exchange sessions between Fidel Castro and the Cuban artists.
