2020 Santamareare Prize: an opportunity to revisit the artistic creation in film, radio and television

This year there was a different edition of the Santamareare, in both the theoretical and the contest events, which was convened by the branch of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) in Villa Clara.

Due to the demands imposed by the confrontation with the pandemic, the XXXVII edition of the Santamareare Prize has welcomed film, radio and television directors from Villa Clara, unlike the national call that its organizers carry out each year.

But despite the limitations, from December 1st to December 4th, the state of sound and the audiovisual productions in the province was evaluated, while several debate meetings were generated around the Cuban soap operas, as was explained by Jorge Gomez, President of the Organizing Committee of the event.

This year, the 2020 Santamareare Prize counted on the expertise of a unique jury made up of five Cuban communication personalities, which was chaired by Fabio Bosch, who holds the National Radio Award for his more than four decades of work dedicated to the CMHW and Ciudad del Mar Radio Stations; also including to Gerardo Houdayer, broadcaster, director of programs and vice-president of the UNEAC in Santiago de Cuba; Angel Luis Martinez, actor, writer and scriptwriter of audiovisual spaces; the young actor Denys Ramos; and the director Jorge Luis Mari.
